Unpacking K-LOCK™ Components

1.  Remove lid.

2.  Remove K-LOCK™ from tray.

3.  Remove alcohol pad. Lift end of Trocar, if present.

4.  Remove Compression Retainer and Trocar, if present.

Installing K-LOCK™

INSERT DRAIN PER THE USUAL METHOD.

If the drain being used does not have a trocar, for best results use the K-LOCK™ TROCAR (if supplied).
  • Place drain exit site at least 3cm from wound edge when possible.
  • For best results apply K-LOCK™ when all incisions are closed, cleaned, and final dressings are being placed.
K-LOCK™ device for surgical drain securement.
1.  Engage Compression Retainer to compress braided sleeve.

2.  Degrease skin around the drain site with provided alcohol pad, or similar.

3.  If using, place antimicrobial pad (BioPatch® or similar).

4.  Slide K-LOCK™ over the end of the drain tube to the skin surface.

5.  Remove paper liners and gently press adhesive pad to skin.

6.  Remove Compression Retainer.

7.  Lift tab to rotate holder.

8.  Place drain/sleeve into horizontal holder.

Removing K-LOCK™

1.   Disengage the drain/sleeve from the horizontal holder.

2.   Gently pull up the edge of the spunlace pad. Use a medical grade adhesive remover or a moisturizer as the adhesive pad is not readily dissolved by alcohol. Then, fully release the pad from the skin.

3. With the pad fully released from the skin, and while holding the drain in place, lift the K-LOCK™ device completely off the drain tubing.

4. Remove the antimicrobial pad and clean the drain exit site.

5. Replace the device, if required, using the “Installing K-LOCK™ Instructions.”

Control Your Comfort™ Repositioning

For convenience, the direction of the drain may be reoriented by the patient or a healthcare worker to a more comfortable position away from clothing or pressure points.

1.   Disengage the drain/sleeve from the horizontal holder, then lift tab to rotate holder.

2.   Rotate to the desired position and then release the tab.

3.   Re-engage the drain/sleeve with the horizontal holder.
